Three New ZEST shows!!

Hello Zesties, we have three new rock shows for you to be excited about.
August 25th at Hailey's in Denton TX w/ Church of Philadelphia and The Western Civilization
Sept. 15th at The Cavern in Dallas w/ Chemistry Set
Nov 18th live on the radio here in Austin on KVRX 97.1 FM at 10 pm.

So come on out and hear us! Alex Maples will be manning the drumset while the rest of the lineup is the "classic" Zest you've come to know and love.

Zest to Release new Album This Year!

Hey kids; Stephen here with the latest update on the forthcoming new record tentatively titled "Brain/Gut Function". We are putting the finishing touches on all the tracks even as we speak and the record should be ready for release by summer. The "classic" Zest lineup is no more unfortunately but a band is in the works nonetheless. The track listing for the new LP is as follows:

The ZEST OF YORE will play on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the MetroGnome Collective in Fort Worth. ZOY should hit the stage at about 10 p.m.

The MetroGnome Collective is a North Texas Not-For-Profit aimed at promoting, educating and supporting unknown and under-represented member artists to enable them to make a transition into full time art careers.

Here's the latest review of Throw it at the Moon from Splendid:

It's hard to know exactly what to make of The ZEST OF YORE -- and that's probably how they like it. Wonky lyrics about the "Waka-Waka" (on the aptly named "Waka-Waka") come head to head with crafty guitars and angular songwriting (see the equally lyrically obtuse "Spiritually Challenged") to create an album that's simply too compelling to be written off as, uh, goofy.

"The Catapulting Zoo"'s harmonies provide one of Throw It At The Moon's few pure pop treats, but the Zest boys seem more interested in exploring the inner workings of their songs, deconstructing them (as they do on the acoustic "Ida") and reassembling the damaged pieces into Flashing Lights-style pop ditties like "Brandish Your Uniform".

Thanks for all those who put on a toga Saturday for the show at the Delta lodge. There were waredrobe malfunctions and rock 'n' roll o' plenty. The beer flowed like wasted tax dollars. A certain member of the band got nude. We'll next be playing Porchfest on Sept. 18. Details coming soon.
